2. Prepare For Toasting

Preheat the pan or oven, if you use the later, set it up around 320-350 degrees. We prefer the oven as it makes preparing croutons faster and simpler. Warm up and melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, then mix it with a bit less than a half cup of extra-virgin olive or rapeseed oil. Season the mixture with half a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper and one teaspoon of coarsely ground sea salt.
